This year we will continue to run our four weekly gaming (or gaming-related) sessions and one fortnightly session - that's over one hundred sessions of gaming in the whole year!
A summary of each session can be found below, and more detailed information on LARP, SATT and Wargames can be found by following the links in the menubar or at the bottom of each section (they lead to the same places).
For one-off events, see the Events page.
Thursdays 7pm, C27 Portland Building
SATT (standing for Satt Around The Table) covers what many people think of as role playing, involving pen, paper and dice. This includes the ubiquitous D&D but also many other systems!
Many older members will be running low level campaigns for new players, and others will be running games for people with more experience...all in a variety of different systems.
Sundays 2pm, C27 Portland Building
Board games ranging from Settlers of Catan to Risk, card games from Magic to Munchkin, tabletop games from Warhammer 40K to BattleFleet Gothic.
Everything that doesn't fit into LARP or SATT, though the main focus is to play for fun, the society can bring together a range of games and systems, or bring your own and try find new converts.
Fortnightly-ish Saturdays 7pm, Main Entrance Portland Building
LARP stands for Live Action Role-Playing, which is simply dressing up in strange costumes, running around the lake, hitting each other with foam swords. You don't have to be insane to do this, though some form of madness helps, especially as the LARP style we play isn't as serious as it could be.
It is a very involved form of role-play because instead of just sitting around imagining what your character is doing, or using models to represent them, you get to actually be them.
Since LARP sessions can be a bit irregular, keep an eye on the forum and LARP page for dates of when the next session will be.
Sundays 2pm, C27 Portland Building
Not fitting into any of the sections described above, the aim of this session is to do something different every week and give you a chance to try games you might not otherwise have considered.
Follow the link below to find a list of what games will be played each week.
Tuesdays 7pm, C27 Portland building
An opportunity to assemble and paint those models you've been meaning to finish for ages but never got around to, or a chance to get into the hobby with as much support and helpful advice as you need to get started. Bring along your models and some painting/assembling supplies and enjoy the combination of model-building and friendly company! This session also sees a large share of CCG games, as well as GM's planning their next session.
