Why Should I Join?
Whether you are a fresher or a returning student, it is equally important for you to register with the ISOC. Even if you are not planning on being involved in our events, you should still register with the ISOC. The simple reason for this is that the resources and funding that a society is allocated are linked to the level of membership that the society has. So the more members a society has the more money it gets and the more bargaining power it has (for example if two societies want the same thing then the larger society will get it).
However, we hope that not only will you join you the Islamic Society but also that you will become actively involved with us. We organise a range of events from Friday Prayers to paintball to henna parties! You don’t have to be a perfect Muslim to attend our events or activities, you don’t even have to be a perfect Muslim to organise them. But one thing that we do insist on is maintaining Islamic decorum between our members.
GET INVOLVED: YOUR ISLAMIC SOCIETY NEEDS YOU!!!!
As students we have all been in exactly the same position as you are now, although it’s been a long time for some! The Islamic Society’s job is to try to make life on campus easier for all Muslims, regardless of where you come from or your school of thought. To coordinate the work of our community, every year we elect an executive committee. This is a purely administrative body, which consults relevant authorities in all of our activities. Beyond the executive committee there are many active members of the community upon whom the majority of the work of our community depends. Together we strive to promote a dynamic and unified environment, which provides a pure understanding of Islam as a way of life for all humanity.
