Training
Training
sessions at the club are designed to teach every aspect of aikido as
systematically as possible. There are essentially four types of class.
The first two are to teach the essential
principles and technical skills in aikido
Basics and application
o basic movements and exercises
o focus on one particular aspect of the basic practices in relation to
complex techniques
Grading syllabus and kata
o sets of techniques required for gradings and kata competitions
The next two are more geared towards
application
Randori (taught)
o training required for competition
o focused on speed, timing and physical conditioning
o combinations of techniques and successful application of aikido against a
non-cooperative opponent
Randori (free practice)
o less instruction than taught session
o a chance to practice trying to throw each other- good fun!
